Look, I've often heard business owners say "strangers will support you before family and friends will". Change your circle, because our village is dope! Project Prevention presents: The Positive Picnic was soooo successful because of the unwavering support of our families & friends! They donated time, money and energy. Saying thank you is not enough to describe our appreciation.
The City of Calumet City was also very supportive in the planning phase and has deemed the third weekend in June "Project Prevention Weekend". Thank you Ramonde D. Williams! Shout out to Blowin' Smoque BBQ & Catering, Krazy Hog BBQ, Tree Sutton, & Paulette Sullivan for feeding the community! Thanks to Charles Dj Cnote Jones for rocking the event! Rayvon Savary, you and the other teen poets are brilliant, beautiful, & creative. Teens like you all make me fear aging less, because the future will be in good hands! Amari Parham, Dave Thepeacemaker Gage, Deshon Newman, Demel Hannah, Jamal Beamon, and Kaitlyn Palmer, thank you for participating in and making our event a success! To Noey Alvarado's PARENTS, you guys are the epitomy of what humility and community services repesents. Thank you to Dovie D. Burl's father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Criener, for donating over 1000 books, and school supplies to Project Prevntion. Mr. Criener said "the kids in Stuttgart, Chicago, or New York are all our kids, doesn't make a difference where they're located, we have to help our own". Lastly, special thanks to my momtie, Dr. Erica Taylor, for her grace & poise while emceeing the picnic (she had delivered two babies the night before and was running off two hours of sleep)! Thanks to Rosemary Taylor for keeping the drinks in order and Lynette Pierce-Pangburn for picking up the baked beans and coleslaw. Also, thanks to everyone who has donated funds through projectpreventioninc.org

It's the unsung heroes and sheroes such as the visionaries of Project Prevention that make the greatest impact in our communities. All the way from Houston, Texas, I just had to say thank you for seeing the worth and beauty in our children and taking major steps to impart excellence in them. Salute!
